Okay, okay. I think the dog birthday parties in our house may officially be getting a little out of control.

BUT how cute is the birthday party we threw for little Dave this weekend? His birthday is right around Shark Week and I loved the idea of doing a “Baby Shark” themed party. Mostly because Dave’s all-time-favorite toy is his Fluff-N-Tuff Shark (more on that later!), but also because Dachshunds have a lot in common with sharks in terms of their personalities. 😬

Throw a Baby Shark Themed Birthday Party for Your Dog

As soon as we picked the theme for Dave’s party, I immediately reached out to Jen Mello of Spotted Dog Bakery. Jen always creates the most magical dog birthday cakes for our pups. Her cakes are chock-full of healthy ingredients and dog-friendly flavors, and they also always look really freaking cute.

Jen and I came up with the design below which turned out even better than I could imagine. If you haven’t ordered from her before, I can’t recommend her treats and barkday cakes highly enough—she’s insanely talented.

I also ordered Dave a little whale party hat from our friends at Buster’s Party Shop. They’re my go-to for any puppy party—so many tiny party hats! And it looked awfully adorable on him. 👇🏻

For party snacks, we made little shark dog treats using a recipe that you can find here. They were a lot of fun to make and the dogs really loved them (probably because the recipe uses a lot of peanut butter).

To create a festive underwater-themed photo booth for the dogs, I bought a bag of light blue ball-pit balls on Amazon and glued them onto a smooth white background. It made a perfect spot to capture party pictures like the one below.
