We Tried It: Whisk & Wag Mixes

Whisk & Wag Mixes

Guys, I'm about to get real here—I'm not a great cook. Sure, I can sometimes throw something together with a lot of coaching from Pinterest, but my cooking is never, well, reliably edible.

I've always dreamed of baking adorable batches of dog biscuits for Dave. I even have a whole aspirational Pinterest board dedicated to dog treat recipes. But they all just feel a little too intimidating and overwhelming to a not-so-great chef like me. That's why I was thrilled when I discovered Whisk & Wag.

Whisk & Wag is a Cincinnati company that creates healthy and fool-proof dog treat mixes. Once you buy one of their adorable little jars of mix, all you have to do is stir in some oil and water, and bake it. Easy-peasy, right? They currently come in three flavors: Herb & Cheddar, Honey & Oats, and Apple & Cinnamon.  You can also find a full ingredient list for each mix here.

We tried all three mixes and the results were amazing. After you've made your dough, you can either press it into little circles (like you would a peanut butter cookie) or use a cookie cutter. We used this one from Williams Sonoma for some of our treats.

The treats cook for twenty minutes and then cool for twenty minutes. Each jar makes about 25 treats.

Dave was jumping up and down next to the counter through the whole cooking process trying to sniff out what was going on. (See pic on bottom right.) He loves cheese (a dog after my own heart!), and he especially went crazy for the Herb & Cheddar treats.  Personally, I loved that the Apple & Cinnamon and Honey & Oats mixes made the apartment smell like I was doing some delicious fall baking.

We'll definitely be ordering Whisk & Wag mixes again. Let us know if you've tried them in the past and what you and your pups thought. You can find their mixes at Chewy.com.

*We received free mixes from Whisk & Wag in exchange for a review, but all opinions are our own. The Dapple also sometimes receives affiliate income for product links, but we'll only ever share products we truly love.
